In all the chaos around us, and coming off a tragic Buffalo loss, I love getting to be the bearer of some good news!
15TH STREET IS OPENING THURSDAY AFTERNOON!

Given all the doubting nancy’s out there, I connected with the NJDEP and EE Cruz representatives yesterday and CONFIRMED they will be done with their current work at 15th and Garden and will re-open at COB Thursday. They will need to return to the location in the future to install the gate itself, but that will not happen for a while, and will be less invasive. And, IYKYK, we will be officially retiring "the sign" that afternoon as well… she fought the good fight for us!

PATH TERMINAL CLOSING FRIDAY - $3 FERRY TICKETS AVAILABLE TO ALL RIDERS
One form of transportation closes, another road opens.
The PATH terminal begins its closure this Friday, January 31st. The Port Authority has arranged alternative travel options to get across the river:
The PANYNJ and NYWW websites both provide helpful, detailed information:
- PANYNJ - Hoboken PATH Station Closure
- NYWW - PATH Closure (including updated schedules for all routes)
I am maintaining a SUMMARY of this information with links on my website:
Check back often for updates.
ABOUT THOSE $3 FERRY TICKETS FOR ALL RIDERS…

NY Waterway is Cross Honoring PATH Tickets. What does this mean? It means that you can pay the same $3 price for riding the ferry as you would for the PATH. IMPORTANTLY - It is available for ALL riders of the ferry. But to get this crazy discount, YOU MUST DO THE FOLLOWING:
- purchase a $3 special ferry ticket either on the NYWW App or at a ticket counter (they will not be available from machines), AND
- have a PATH fare card payment mechanism – a SmartLink Card, MetroCard or digital pass in the RidePATH app.
**IMPORTANT
- At boarding, customers must show BOTH. If you only have the $3 ticket you will not be allowed to board.
- You MUST update the RidePATH app to access the digital pass. This is something you can do now in preparation.
- The digital ferry ticket and pass are NOT yet available as of this writing. I confirmed yesterday afternoon that both NYWW and PATH will have their digital tickets and passes available 24-48 hours before the PATH closure.
- You do not have to have proof of funds on the cards.
- This discount cannot be used for those who have already bought a monthly ferry pass.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Longer lines in Hoboken at every stop and at the Port Authority and NY Ferry terminals.
- More frequent buses, ferries and trains at every stop. For example, at the 14th Street Ferry terminal, ferries every 10 minutes mean there will be DOUBLE the ferries to midtown, and TRIPLE the ferries to downtown.
- Extended ferry hours to provide more alternatives to evening activities in the city.
- Slower lines at the ferry as the NYWW staff review and accept the two points for entry - a ticket and PATH payment mechanism .
TO EVERYONE - Please be patient with and assist our neighbors who typically take the PATH - and are finding a new form of transportation to work/school for the first time
- ESPECIALLY OUR TEENS TRAVELING ALONE, GOING TO / FROM HIGH SCHOOL IN THE CITY.
As mentioned above, I will be maintaining current information in a summary on my website, so check back often. I was at the uptown ferry yesterday, handing out postcards I had made to neighbors to inform them of the $3 special ferry ticket price and what to expect during the closure. I will be back on Friday to answer any questions and help. Thank you in advance for your patience. For the first few days I expect this to be chaos, but by Tuesday I think people will settle in with their temporary new routine that will continue through February 24th. Who knows, maybe some of these additional travel options might stick…
URBAN MARKET - OPENING IN AS EARLY AS 2 WEEKS!

I spoke with the owner yesterday who said they were a day away from clearing their last hurdle, which has proved to be the most challenging – their final electrical inspection. And once cleared, it would take about two weeks to get the rest ready to open. Once I have the date, I assured him we will show him a proper Hoboken Hello / Welcome to the Neighborhood opening! Sending all good thoughts their way for this last leg.
TIFFANIE THE EXPLORER
vs.
TIFFANIE THE ANNOUNCED MAYORAL CANDIDATE
First, a big thank you to all who have reached out to me in support of my intent to run for Mayor asking me how to help and already making donations!!! I could not be more appreciative!
So what does "exploring" mean when I said I was "exploring to run for Mayor"? It means I am intending to run, and hope to officially announce by late February/early March, but am putting a bunch of pieces in place before hand. The pieces include things like setting up accounts, websites, and hiring campaign professionals. But also it means meeting with neighbors, businesses and community leaders to discuss shared visions for Hoboken's future.
And building Team Tiffanie with voters, volunteers and contributions! Unlike my ward election, which cost just under $40K, a city wide mayoral race will be 6x that and then some. I will send more out about this in the coming days, but until then, I appreciate any and all who want to sign up to volunteer and support the campaign with financial donations:
-
To volunteer - Volunteer - Tiffanie for Hoboken
-
To make a contribution to my campaign - Donate - Tiffanie for Hoboken
I could not be more excited to take this journey with you, for our incredibly special, Hoboken community!
As always, please share this with everyone you know who may be interested and reach out any time on any issue important to you: 201-208-1674 or [email protected].
