Blizzard Watch Sunday Night

Before we jump into the matter hand… How about that hockey game!

I joined what felt like 150 neighbors at The Ale House to watch — and it was one of those moments that just felt good to share. Exactly 46 years ago to the day was the Miracle on Ice. I remember watching that game with my parents, though definitely not in a bar.

What an incredible finish for both the Women’s and Men’s hockey teams and a great Winter Olympics overall. As one of the final speeches during the closing ceremonies put it, at a time when the world feels divided, the Olympics have a way of bringing us together.

On to LA28.

And what brings Hoboken together?  A storm… of course.

What you need to know:

NEW:

  • There is a statewide travel ban from 9pm to 7am Monday.  This includes municipal and county roads.  An important exception is if you are seeking critical care.  Violators may face penalties.

  • Towing started for cars remaining on emergency routes.  If you have not moved your car, please do so now.

  • Municipal garages are currently full except for monthly and permit holders.  No additional discounted parking is available at this time.

  • Transit disrupted:

    • NJ Transit will suspend all service at 9pm and will assess overnight when it is safe to resume.

    • PATH has suspended JSQ to NWK, but says service to and from 33rd will remain available.  Check with the Ride The PATH app.

PREVIOUSLY SHARED:

  • If you have a car, move it off these Snow Emergency Routes. Vehicles left on these streets may be ticketed and towed.

  • Street sweeping is suspended Monday and Tuesday.

  • Citi Bike has suspended services through Tuesday morning, 6am.

  • Sidewalk snow removal is required 6 hours after the storm ends.  As of this writing it looks to be around noon / 1pm tomorrow that that clock will start.

  • The city started a volunteer program to assist certain neighbors with sidewalk clearing.  Those over 60 and/or with disabilities can sign up for help and those who want to volunteer can register here.

  • General concerns about snow removal.  We won’t know more until we see how much snow we get tomorrow morning.  More to come…

❄️ Storm Update - Overnight Impact Expected

The most extreme conditions are expected between 1:00 and 4:00 AM, with:

  • Snowfall rates of 2–4 inches per hour
  • Wind gusts up to 45 mph
  • Near-zero visibility at times
  • Please stay inside and stay safe during this window.

This is also a good time to:

  • Pull out a recent utility bill and have your PSE&G account number handy in case you need to report an outage
  • Make sure phones and devices are fully charged
  • Bring in or secure any loose items outside

If you do experience outages or difficult conditions, use social media to share updates so neighbors can stay informed and look out for one another.

For regular updates, follow the city here:

REMINDER: For emergencies, call 911 or 201-420-2100 for the local dispatch.  And email [email protected] and report any areas that have not been adequately cleared.

Do not hesitate to reach out to discuss this or anything else important to you.  My number is 201-208-1674.  #TeamWork
