Rental Support: Apply for NJ’s State Rental Assistance Program
The New Jersey State Rental Assistance Program (SRAP) is a state-funded initiative that provides housing subsidies to very low-income residents for safe and affordable housing. Pre-applications for its 2025 waiting list are accepted from Monday, January 13, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. to Friday, January 31, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.. For Hudson County, the 2024 income limits are as follows:
- 1 Person: $37,500
- 2 People: $42,850
- 3 People: $48,200
- 4 People: $53,525
- 5 People: $57,850
- 6 People: $62,125
- 7 People: $66,400
- 8 People: $70,675
Through a lottery system, eligible applicants are selected for a waiting list, with priority given to veterans, the elderly, disabled individuals, and those experiencing homelessness.
Key Details:
- Who Can Apply: New Jersey residents, aged 18+ or emancipated minors, meeting income and eligibility requirements.
- How to Apply: Submit one pre-application per household online at WaitlistCheck.com/NJ559 during the enrollment period. Applications are available in 90 languages.
- Lottery Process: Applications will be selected randomly; submission does not guarantee placement. All applicants will receive a status update after the lottery.
- Priority Groups: Veterans (and surviving spouses), homeless individuals/families, elderly (62+), disabled individuals, and those with local residency preferences.
